Well, Hello Baseball Blog World
I’ve been blogging in my own little corner of the world for 3.5 years, but I’ve always had to rein in my baseball talk. I think I’m safe in saying that most of my readers, both of the blog and my books, aren’t all that interested in the sport. And then today I found that MLB will let me blog and here I can talk about ball to my heart’s content. Hurrah!
I think I was 9 when my dad took me to my first ball game. Actually, he took my brother, but he didn’t want me to feel left out. I can’t remember who the Minnesota Twins played that day, but I do remember asking my dad question after question, trying to understand the game. A funny thing happened–my brother never became a big fan, but me? I went to games with my friends, hung around old Met Stadium in Bloomington, MN getting autographs, and I have the MLB package on my cable system.
There are three teams I root for: The Minnesota Twins (I was born, raised, and still live in MN), the Chicago Cubs (WGN used to show almost every single game), and the Atlanta Braves (TBS used to show almost every single game). I could have put up the official team blog logo for any of the three, but I chose the Cubs because that’s the team I keep slipping in my books.
A little introduction to me. I’m a published author with my 6th book being released by Tor on June 3rd. In my first book, I have some secondary characters arguing about whether or not the Cubs’ curse has been lifted. I’ve squeezed in a few more baseball references since then, and I plan to put another one in the book I’m writing now. The hero is originally from Chicago, but it might be the Seattle Mariners that get the mention since that’s where he lives now.
Anyway, this post is kind of a golly gee whiz, I can actually blog about baseball without boring my readers! I’m just delighted beyond belief!
